Mornings are, it has to be said, a Bad Thing. Sure, I seem to spend far more of them waking up next to
kboyd, which is a very Good Thing, but then I have to drag my carcass out of bed, and haul myself off to work, which really isn't my first choice.
I get to work, and I think "what the hell am I going to do today". I've been backlogged on this same small piece of code for months now, and I can't do a thing until I get the critical information I should have been given to start with. And I'm getting fed up of being told I'll have it "soon" and it never turning up. It just becomes pointless, and draining, to keep asking. Equally, I get told "Isn't there something else you can be doing?", so crawl off into some pointless side-task, and end up spending repeated days making no progress on what I should be working on. Maybe there's some way I can move ahead anyway, but by this point, I'm just so burned out I can't bring myself to try and find it. Bottom line is, it's going to look like I've been doing sod-all for months, which screws up my chances of a good appraisal or raise, and makes the entire team (myself included) feel like I'm not pulling my weight.
